Members jhaley Posted October 31, 2006 Members Posted October 31, 2006 I’m thinking about wade fishing below the dam this weekend, but I’ve been burned before with high water that kept me out of the water. I looked at the pinned charts, but since I’m not all that familiar with the lake not sure what they mean. How wadeable has it been like below the dam? What should I look at prior to making the drive? Thanks. Jay
Danoinark Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Jay I think you will find wadeable water each day. They do generate some, but its not been typically for long periods of time. I don't wade anything over one generator. Then at that its not far from the shore or an access. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Rusty Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Jay, your best bet would be to call this number 417-336-5083 When I make a trip down I call several times on the way. But, I also watch the charts and see if there is a pattern to their madness. HTH
Terry Beeson Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 ...I also watch the charts and see if there is a pattern to their madness. You gotta be kiddin' me... When you figure that out, Rusty, you'll be a rich man... Although, I do have a theory. I think they have hidden cameras all around a 10 mile radius and when they see my li'l Ranger PU headed toward the dam, they turn 'em on... Honestly, fishing a tailwater on the White system just below any dam is a crap shoot as far as generation. I've seen days where there was generation when none was scheduled and when it made no sense to me. Then I've seen days when I stayed home because they were planning to generate and there was no generation... in the middle of 105 degree weather... normal lake level... I called the generation number at BSD five times on a trip from Jonesboro and they kept saying they were generating 3 units. So my fishing buddy and I decided to detour to the Spring. We had a good day, but found out later there was not one generator on all day at BSD... But calling the number and looking at the schedule is still the BEST predictor/guide we have... Jeremy Hunt Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I would say up to 2 units. Anything after that you could end up in Hollister. Lol Accept the drift.....<>>><flysandguides.comVisit my blog
