Jdecoudres Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 i mainly fish tanney but was wondering how many different color midges do u carry.. If you tie 5 different sizes then have to tie them in all these different colors then thats alot of midges. LOL just wanted to get a imput on what you guys do?
Jack Jones Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I've done well with rust midges and zebra midges. Usually size 18 or 20. Some folks swear by blood worm midges, but I've never done well on the red. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
dennis boatman Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I tie what i call a "Pinky"...pink with gold wire, usually in a 10 or 12...works for me...I never go smaller than a 12 and do just fine... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
Nighthawk Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I tie all my midges on a 2499spbl TMC hook #14. it's a 2x short so you're actually tying a # 18 and you can tie it shorter on the shank if you want to go smaller. rusty brown with black head and also with a copper bead. have also had good luck with a copper dun as tied by River Run.
Outside Bend Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 black, red, tan, white, gold/orange, olive, brown...that about covers my experience. And trout can be adventurous eaters, so it's always worth it to have something a little weird in the box. <{{{><
