Bitethis Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Has anyone ever done well Catfishing on Bull Shoals, like around Barkers Hole area, maybe? Was thinking of giving it a shot.
Jason Essary Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Catfish? Not a species most chase this time of year around here. Be interested to hear if anyone has any positive input. Personally I would wait till at least march, or 60 degree water. vonreed Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Most people go down into Beaver Creek arm of the lake to fish for catfish, especially if the water is at a high level. I've fished down there a lot and I've only seen 1 catfish caught from Barker Hole up to the dam. During the summer I wouldn't be surprised to see catfish in there for the cooler water maybe.
Bitethis Posted January 26, 2013 Author Posted January 26, 2013 alright, good to know...thanks. I have caught some big ole catfish in the late fall and winter on Stockton (14lbs and 12 lbs in Dec.), didn't know if Shoals would be any good. I have never seen catfishing happening down there, but thought I would ask.
dennis boatman Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 ...ask Manti...he's the catfish king... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 I've caught a few blues at the pothole, but I wasn't fishing for them and I don't know what the population would be. It's pretty low up that way now. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
