Stockton Lake Guide Service Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 The water temp is down to 38 and I have seen some ice forming after a calm night. it was pretty bad last week a couple of mornings. The water is about 7 foot low, which can be dangerous. Be careful out there. Crappie can be caught in 40 foot of water under the shad. walleye are also there. Old state park is loaded with white bass and larger shad. if you like to catch them whites, fish the shad in 40 to 50 foot of water. you will also pick u a coule crappie and some walleye from time to time, but lots of whites. I haven't been doing much bass fishing, but the jig bite has worked better than the jerk bite. at least so far and from the ones i have talked too. All you need to do this time of year is find the shad with your electronics. look in the coves in 30 to 40 foot of water. they could show up on the bottom, as a big ball or they might be scattered out. find the shad, you will find the fish. no shad, then licky if you get dinner. I've got a little time to help our if you are having trouble. give me a call and i will see what i can do for you over the phone.
