Idylwilde Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 This photo was taken at 7:45 A.M. 2/26/13 at the main bridge on Hwy 119 Montauk State Park. No snow that the rest of the State got to the north of us but much needed rain. We will try to keep anglers informed. Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.
stlfisher Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Plenty of rain up my way as well. Glad to see my favorite river getting a good soaking.
Guest Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 This should be great for the river. Good to see.
Ill Trout Bum Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 This may make for an interesting opening day! We're planning on heading over tomorrow morning. I'm not concerned as I have seen the river drop almost as quickly as it rises. Also, it makes it more difficult for the bank stalkers to find the lunkers!!! Scott
Idylwilde Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 The river is down and clearing nicely should be in great shape Friday morning. All roads are clear and dry. Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.
Members salmotrutta Posted February 27, 2013 Members Posted February 27, 2013 I'm heading down to Tan Vat on Sunday...we needed this. Thanks for posting!
Idylwilde Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 If you go from Tan-Vat down river be careful wading the bigger rocks have had some of the sand that has been holding them washed away by the high water and tend to roll when stepped on. Also there is more current and faster current than there has been in over a year. The river basically has changed a lot over the past 6 weeks. The better fish are lying in the slack water at the outside edges of the shoots. Also you can get by with 5X tipped, that's something that I haven't been able to do all last summer.
