Members lil sac mitch Posted March 16, 2013 Members Posted March 16, 2013 I fished Orleans yesterday and managed to catch 12 nice females and a keeper walleye before I had to leave, but I didn't fish too long, they were biting really soft and right on the bottom.
Members cReekFishin Posted March 16, 2013 Members Posted March 16, 2013 Not too familiar with the Aldrich area. Where is the Orleans and Taylor bridge I keep hearing about?
Bill Butts Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Find a decent road map online to reference. From Springfield (your profile doesn't indicate where you live), north on Hwy 13 then west on Hwy 215, thru Morrisville. Continuing on 215 going west you will cross the Little Sac River about 3-4 miles, then about another 3-4 miles there is a road that turns to the right, S. 60th Rd., if I'm reading the map clearly. Stay on that road for a few miles until it tees. Turn right and you will immediately cross Taylor Bridge, access to park under or near the bridge is past the bridge on the right (will be obvious). No boat ramp, but easy to slide a jon boat, canoe or yak in right there. Fishing is usually good up and downstream from that point. Orleans, which many just know as steel or iron bridge, is found by continuing past Taylor. Take the first road that turns left, follow it until it tees, then turn left and the road dead ends at the bridge, which is no longer open to vehicle traffic. It can also be accessed from the opposite side of the bridge, depending on which is best from where you live. All this will be even easier when you view a map. That area gets pretty crowded in late eves and weekends, so some additional walking or paddling is suggested to get away from the crowd. Also, once the nights begin staying consistently warm, about 50 or higher, the mornings are my favorite any day of the week because most people are used to fishing the pm and eves and you will usually have your pick of where you want to fish. Good Luck! Hope this helps. Bill Bill Butts Springfield MO "So many fish, so little time"
Members cReekFishin Posted March 17, 2013 Members Posted March 17, 2013 Thanks! I appreciate it. Was looking all around on the maps for Taylor bridge and couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks for the help.
Members Nekia 959 Posted March 20, 2013 Members Posted March 20, 2013 New to area where are these bridges
Bill Butts Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 If you live in the El Dorado Springs area, you would need to drive south on Highway 32, thru Stockton, then south on Hwy 123, cross the lake, then left (east) on Hwy 215 at Eudora to the turnoff I described above as S. 60th Rd. Follow the above instructions. Pull up an online map of Morrisville MO. That turn-off and the river are west of that town, it should be pretty easy to zero in from there. Good luck! Members RiverFisher5944 Posted March 21, 2013 Members Posted March 21, 2013 Lil sac Mitch which area of the river did you catch these on if you don't mind sharing. I fished Taylor and Orleans area Monday and Tuesday and didn't have the greatest luck, current was'nt helping anything either. We're you in those areas or further up river?
Members lil sac mitch Posted March 21, 2013 Members Posted March 21, 2013 I was much further up river. Monday I caught alot at the mouth of coates branch (between taylors and the railroad bridge) Yesterday I did really well about 100 yards upstream on slagle creek (it is just upstream from the railroad bridge on the frisco highline trail, between taylor's bridge and the 215 bridge). The fish from today I caught about 1 mile upstream from the 215 bridge. -There should still be lots of fish at taylors. I just went to these places as they are right down the road from my house. The trick is to find a good feeder creek or something blocking the current, and switch colors and jig movements often until you find what they are hitting on.
