Members Joshua Seymour Posted March 4, 2013 Members Posted March 4, 2013 I have recently taken an interest in targeting carp with my fly rod. I have read a lot about fishing lake flats for them and was wondering if anyone knew of flats on Lake Tenkiller and Fort Gibson, accessible by land, that could be waded.
Bird Watcher Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 You might post this in the Lower Illinois River forum on here. Some of those guys would probably have more insight. I could help you out on Grand, but Tenkiller and Fort Gibson are a little out of my range.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 If you don't get specifics I would look at the Illinois above Tenkiller. If it's open, the public hunting area on Ft Gibson should have a lot of carp. The Arkansas is said to be full of carp. If you're close to R.S. Kerr it's the shallowest big lake I ever fished. I would think with it and the river it would be a good producer once learned. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members Joshua Seymour Posted March 5, 2013 Author Members Posted March 5, 2013 Thanks. I do have plans to check ou the Arkansas river in Tulsa this summer. I do fish the upper illinois very regularly it is just so heavily used during the summer that i wanted to try and find some other options.
