The BPS in St. Charles has them, too...must have gotten a huge load of Warts.

Gotta give some kudos to the St. Charles store...I bought a BPS Carbonlite reel back last summer. Used it once, and it started getting real noisy and rough. Took it back and exchanged it for another one, figuring the first one was a lemon. The second one did the same thing. About that time I left for a couple months in Montana, and kinda forgot about that reel. I read on Riversmallies.com that the roughness and noise is apparently a problem common to the Carbonlite reels. The other day, I happened to see that reel I had, and realized that I no longer had the box, the receipt, etc. I wondered whether they'd still take it back without a receipt. They did, and I exchanged it for a Shimano Citica.

Now...I used the Citica for a bit yesterday. The level wind mechanism wasn't working properly, it got temporarily stuck on one side if you were reeling slowly. Dang, I thought, now I'm going to have to take IT back. At least I kept the receipt.

But I got it out this morning and messed around with it a bit on my pond (catching one bass on a spinnerbait) and the problem appears to have gone away. Maybe there was a slight burr on the worm gear that got worn away with a bit of use. I guess I'll keep it and try it one more time on a fishing trip before taking it back.
