Tomorrow, I am headed down to Taney to fly-fish for my first time ever. Lucky for me, I will have one of my good amigos that is in the exact same situation. I'm very new to all of this, so I need to know what's working so I can make this successful for both of us. I have always been successful with the spinning rod here, but I'm ready to take the excitement to a whole new level. Anyone have any suggestions?

Lucas-

Swinging small softhackles is always productive. If not just drift scuds and egg patterns.

Also small zebra midges should work plenty well also.

Do yourself a favor and fish down or away from the outlets, don't get dependant on only being able to catch fish in them.

Don't pay any attention to your amigo, he doesn't know any more than you do. Scuds, midges, definitely under a float for you. Like Lancer says, avoid the outlets, a lot of the fish being caught are snagged anyway. The rebar would be a good place, you can stay close and both catch fish. Also the soft hackles mentioned, midges, scuds, and eggs will work in it.

Have fun.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
