Randall Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I'm planning a trip down to taney this thanksgiving and i wanted to try crane creek if i could. i have no idea if its fishable right now and don't want to waste a drive from branson if its not. if it is, what would be my best bet as far as bugs and presentation go? thanks -randall Cute animals taste better.
timsfly Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I was down there a few weeks ago, it was very low and very clear. I fished the area down below town, caught a few on woolybuggers. Black and olive seemed to be best for me. I have caught a lot of fish on san juan worms. I might fish there tomorrow or wed. depends on how much water they run at taney. I cross crane everyday I fish taney and sometimes I'll stop and fish on the way home. drew03cmc Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Where exactly is Crane Creek? Is it a place that could be fished with an 8'6 5wt or would I need to get a smaller rod to allow casting before I tried it? Andy
timsfly Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I fished crane for an hour today on the way home from taney, it is very low, but I did manage to catch 4 small trout the biggest was about 12". Used the 6' 2wt and small # 14 woolybuggers. Olive was the best color for me today. I fished at the wire road access below the town of crane.
