Who shuttles from Carver to Mt. Hersey? I would really like to find some one that lives in the area and could meet me at Mt Hersey and ride with me to Carver and then drop my truck off back at the Mt. Hersey take out, mostly during the week. Thanks for any help.

Let me know if you find someone. I think that is one of the nicest floats on the whole Buffalo. Carver to Woolum is a fantastic 2-night slow float. - Great combination of beautiful scenery, excellent fishing, and never crowded... but partly because the access and shuttling is not easy there.

Me too, Me too. Me and a friend are planning our first trip to Buffalo this summer. I have researched and posted on here, read all advice, printed off info, and still SO undecided. All help is appreciated. Scenery is top priority, fishing secondary, but certainly like to catch some smallmouth. I am torn between middle section and lower section right now.

I would actually plan two trips... one for the middle section and one for the lower section. Decide at the last minute which one to do based on the river level. I've been on the middle section in mid to late summer some years and it has been great. Other years, I'm sure glad we went further down where there was more water. If you can avoid the major access points at the highways you will see fewer people on the river. The section from Carver to Woolum has some awesome bluffs and phenomenal gravel bars for camping. In my opinion the scenery rivals the upper river that people rave about. You will only see another boat or two on a weekend float on this section in the summer... during the week probably none.

A group of 4 of us floated from Carver to Tyler Bend two weeks ago. Only saw 4 other boats the whole trip. Great scenery on this section with the Nars, and Skull Bluff. Fishing was great also. Grubs, Lizards and Gitzits. Not sure on shuttles. We ran our own. I would contact any of the outfitters over on Hwy 65.

I'd be surprised if anyone wants to run a shuttle to Mt. Hersey. It's a long gravel drive and the outfitters can put folks in at easier locations.

I think you are right about the shuttle to Mt. Hersey, it is a long bumpy gravel road, I was hoping for a local or a High School kid that lived close that wanted to make a little summer money. Guess I will just float down and drag back up.

Buffalo River Canoes (upper) and Silver Hill (middle) will both shuttle to Mt. Hersey. The shuttles are expensive, but worth it in my opinion because you'll have the river mostly to yourself.
