Bitethis Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Put in at Aldrich yesterday afternoon around 3pm. Took a boat ride up the river between steel bridge and Taylor bridge. Fished from 330 - 530. I caught my limit of whites at 4:20pm...my fishing partner had 2. I handed him my a-rig set up, he had a limit in 30 mins. I have never used an A-rig before yesterday. I was totally impressed with it, although my shoulder is a little sore today, lol. I didn't land a double at any point, but hoped for one the whole time out. While i was slaying the whites, my partner tied on a swim bait exactly like I had on the rig. He fished it to no victory. It was the fact of having 3 swim baits and 2 spinner blades all balled up. It was very fun, and very nice to go out, catch a limit in an hour, and then sit back and enjoy the scenery. There are still a bunch of whites in the river :-)

Members mojasonh Posted April 24, 2013 Members Posted April 24, 2013 Have you been out to turnback at all?
Members mojasonh Posted April 24, 2013 Members Posted April 24, 2013 It is a bit closer for me just curious if the fishing would be as good off cc and up the creek
Members ddhlakebound Posted April 24, 2013 Members Posted April 24, 2013 It's gotta be worth a shot jason......If you go, I think I'd try some sort of a small chartreuse/pick your fav color combo jig, and fish in close to the banks nice and slow. People were probably catching a few on spinners and cranks, but the little jigs are where my bet is. Er........, maybe that was last week or something.
dennis boatman Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 ...A-rig for whites is AWESOME...been using it all spring and having waaay to much fun with it... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
stuartsx5 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I have seen the A rig talked about on here but I have no idea what it is. Could someone explain this for me? Earl Stuart fishin is livin
zarraspook Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Here is a link to the Bassmasters site showing the Alabama Rig... The thing about the rig is you can use any thing from crappie jig to $ 45 swim baits on it... They come in 3 & 5 wire ..... In Missouri you can only have 3 hooks so, I put spinnerbait blades on the other two wires.. http://www.bassmaster.com/tips/its-new-its-different-its-alabama-rig "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
