Members Wahoo61 Posted April 29, 2013 Members Posted April 29, 2013 Just checking to see if anyone has been down on Sunday or Today. Corp shows the water temp at 56. It is about 4 degrees lower than what the tailrace temperature is based on my being on the water several times and checking what they say the temp is on their website. The wipers should be starting on top now. I am probably going down Wed and will report. Tight Lines!
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 We were there today but didn't fish that side. There were lots of cars there at daybreak, but surprisingly few by 10AM. That suggest to me it wasn't real exciting in that channel. Lots of boats in the old channel, it was packed and the crappie are still there very early. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Evolution Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Was there today too, no topwater action whatsoever. Spoonies, gars, and carps are jumping but no signs of whites/wipers busting shad. Still to early to tell but my guess would be early/mid may before the the real action begins.
Members Wahoo61 Posted April 30, 2013 Author Members Posted April 30, 2013 Thanks for the replies! Wayne or Evolution, where were you fishing, what were you using and what did you catch or see caught? The Wipers and Whites are in there. The water temp is right for it to kick off any time. I am trying to figure out how to get down there tomorrow. Like I said, the first 20 yards of the gate side by the fence were go, anything beyond that was no dice. All fish were caught on Chartreuse body on jig heads. This was Thursday. I will report if I can. We probably will not wet a line until about 1:00. Tight Lines!
Members gfox14 Posted April 30, 2013 Members Posted April 30, 2013 I went down early Sunday morning, got there at 3:00AM to be exact. I fished on the south side and caught hybrids on white sliders with a chartruse tail on a 1/8 oz jig head. The bite died down around 6AM. When daylight hit i couldnt find anything they would bite on until I tried all chartuse slider with 1/4 oz jig head. I only fished with this about thirty minutes and caught two hybrids cause i had to leave by 8:00. Average size was smaller than normal but me and my buddy pull out prolly four 3 pounders and one 4 pounder and one 6 pounder. Didnt see anybody else using topwater yet.
