Members MattS Posted May 17, 2013 Members Posted May 17, 2013 Heading down to the Current tomorrow afternoon. Plan on fishing the area between tan Vat and baptist if it isn't too crowded. Any suggestions? Haven't fished this area that much but I am very excited.
jah Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 If you want numbers, buy some pink eggs from the fly shop at Montauk and fish them as deep as you can. If you want browns/quality, don't fish eggs. Woolies in the am and pm, scuds, Pats, caddis larva, etc. Have fun. Jim
Members MattS Posted May 17, 2013 Author Members Posted May 17, 2013 That's what I've heard. Now my buddy wants to do smallmouth this weekend... Haven't caught a trout in 6 weeks. Oh well. Hopefully I can convince him how great the Current is. Wish me luck
Nortrad Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Rubber legs, pheasant tail, and, a certain fly by Mr. Lance Egan... Good luck man. Don't forget streamers for some of the day.
Members MattS Posted May 17, 2013 Author Members Posted May 17, 2013 The Wainbow Rarrior? What a fly!
Nortrad Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 The Wainbow Rarrior? What a fly! Yep, change up the color on the body, same wing case...
Members MattS Posted May 18, 2013 Author Members Posted May 18, 2013 Thanks. Turns out I'm fishing the Mearmec today. I'll let you know how strong the aluminum hatch is.
