cpriest
I recently got a gheenoe (think flat back canoe, but much more stable) with a small 5hp and looking for a place to launch and fish for a few hours on weekends. Biggest concern is a launch point for a 2wd truck and small trailer. I can launch the boat by hand but i dont want to carry it too far. I have floated rockhouse to trigger gap numerous times and don't mind paying KRO to launch from trigger gap, but I also remember the water being real skinny down stream and upstream canoe traffic is always present. Don't have to have solitude just looking for an area with good fishing and room to motor up and down stream. Thanks!
RSBreth
James at Galena would be a good spot - but I'm not sure about the access on Flat right now.
Wayne SW/MO
I don't think you'll find much solitude on the Kings this time of the year where there's an easy launch. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
cpriest
Has anyone been to withrow springs? I saw they have a canoe service to float war eagle, which must mean there is a decent launch point, but I have no idea what the water levels would be that far up

cpriest
Found the new site at romp hole online and looks nice. Anyone been there recently? Is fishing better upstream or down? I have never been this far down the Kings
hoglaw
I would GUESS down because lots of folks float from Stoney Point to Romp Hole. Actually, you may like the area upstream. It's basically three really long holes that get pretty deep. That's how I recall it anyway. If you go downstream, you're fishing towards the lake so not may people are likely to float that direction, because it probably sucks to get to the next take out. And I doubt many boats can get up that high unless they're running a jet, so you probably get into some water that doesn't get touched much if you go down from Romp. cpriest
Ended up hitting 62 bridge and went upstream. Water was slow, low, & clear which made fishing challenging. Managed to convince a few to hit the crazy dad, with most fish in the shade in deeper pools. Very little luck in the fast water with eddies. Next time ill check out Romp access.
