I'm new to the area, just moved to Springfield. I'm looking at trying out some night fishing on Stockton here in the next couple of weeks. Going to take my new step-son out, and would really like to get on a good bite, so he has a good time. Looking mainly for numbers, don't even have to be big ones. Any advice on where to look for them, what to use would be greatly appreciated.

if you go in the next couple weeks I would consider going catfishing. the are getting ready to spawn and can be caught up next to chunk rock around bridges and in the swift water around Aldrich using anything from shiners to gold fish and my favorite a piece of raw shrimp tipped with a leach. when fishing around those places use a cork and fish from 3-4ft from the bank out to about 10ft from it fishing 3-5ft down. my favorite bridge to fish is the h highway bridge a the twin bridges fishing on the side of the beach. hope this helps

good luck and good fishing!!

forgot to say that if they start spawning then the bite will slow some cause the males when they are guarding the nest will not eat. will only bite if they find something a threat to the nest but the good with that is that when they come off the nest which is anywhere from 10-15 days there will be some very hungry catfish!!

good luck and good fishing!!

yoda......... this should be a good time for the crappie at night. was going to go myself at night last weekend but the storm threat changed my mind. I like to go to cedar ridge. there are lots of brush piles in the area if you are in a boat or you can fish off the fishing dock too. I use a submersable green and a floating white light. I seem to catch more crappie under the white light and white bass around the green light. Let me know if you need any more info. good luck

Thanks for the info guys.

I went and picked up a couple lights. Cedar Ridge is where I was thinking about putting in, coming from Springfield, it seemed pretty easy to get to. Is there anywhere around there to get live bait? Or should we look for some on the way there?

wutever... I wouldn't mind getting hold of a catfish or two while we are there. Really just looking to have a good time with the kiddo.

If you are going thru Willard & Walnut Grove (160/123), then Lakey's bait shop is just before you get to 123 / 215 where you turn to go to Bona ( Cedar Ridge )...

They are open (basically) day break to dark... 1-417-694-8012
