Brian Wise Posted January 31, 2006 Author Posted January 31, 2006 Hank, Above Rainbow Spring is pretty good smallmouth water, in fact they shocked a HUGE on last fall. ROLF does do trips up there and would be more than happy to help you out. I'd bring some crawfish patterns along with some smaller Clouser minnows and Woolies, Sneaky Pete's in the Spring. hank franklin Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Thanks. We're looking at an April trip. Maybe we'll hook up. Sneaky Pete's is still my standard. I like to throw poppers on top and streamers, minnows, etc. subsurface. I've never been on the North Fork. I assume we wouldn't be crowded on an April weekend, huh?
Brian Wise Posted January 31, 2006 Author Posted January 31, 2006 March is pretty much the "opening of the gates" for the season. April can have some crowds but they are usually pretty tame if there is much of them. Are you planning on staying at Rolf? Brian My Youtube Channel
Members justfishing55 Posted January 31, 2006 Members Posted January 31, 2006 Great to see a dedicated forum for this spot. I am heading over early March for a little early Spring fishing. (Hopefully) How's the walk in access? Brian, Are you currently in the Fisherman's room at ROLF? <')))>< Romans 15:13
Members justfishing55 Posted January 31, 2006 Members Posted January 31, 2006 Brian, If I was making my way down towards HWY 160 is there access at 354 bridge? Any access above Althea Spring off 352? Is the access ok at Dawt? I've only got half a day and I want to hit as many spots between ROLF and 160, before I head South. Thanks, Gary <')))>< Romans 15:13
Brian Wise Posted February 2, 2006 Author Posted February 2, 2006 I live in Gainesville. The guy in the fisherman's room is working at ROLF. Yes, there is access at 354 (Blair Bridge) go over the bridge and then another 1/2 mile is an MDC public access. Park down by the ramp and walk downstream, there is a small trail down to the bottom of that riffle you will see. BEFORE you get to the bridge on H (Patrick Bridge) you will see a parking lot on the left, pull in on that road and go past the parking lot to the end of the campground. There is a big MDC gate there and a real nice trail that will take you to the islands above Patrick Bridge...I really like the islands especially the second island upstream, very Coloradoesque'! Good access at Dawt, fishing lacks most of the time though. Brian My Youtube Channel
