gramps50 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I travel some wanted a rod that I could take with me so if the opportunity to wet a line came up I would be ready so I stopped my my local sporting goods store to see what they had. I found a 50% off sale on Odyssey rods. Had never heard of them before but they looked pretty much like a St Croix Premier including the Fugi guides. The one I was looking at was a 6'6" Med/Fast 2 piece. Not knowing anything about them I ask the clerk if he had used them, he hadn't but friends and customers had and said that they fished pretty much like a St Croix with about the same sensitivity. For $23 I couldn't hardly pass this up so I bought one. When I got home I took my Pflugar President 30 and spooled it with some Sufix 832 with a Fluro leader. Then took it to a local pond that I fish and proceeded to check it out. Outfitted it with a 3/32 Gopher Tackle mushroom head and half of a 7" Zman fineness worm. The sensitivity was great and almost as good as my St Croix spinning rods, might have been the fact that it was a 2 piece. It good a good workout catching 13 fish all bass except for 3 hybrid bluegills. The biggest bass being 14" which is the biggest I have see or heard of coming from this pond. Need to learn how to fish with braid as I lost a couple setting the hook. Even at the $44.95 price tag this rod was a good buy.
