How much will this front affect the fishing, or is there even anything specific to what fish do with cold fronts? i have finally found some time to make it below beaver on saturday, but with finals coming up, i dont want to go up possibly knowing the fishing could be terrible. I know it is suppose to warm up by sat (40s range). just curious how much the weather will play a part with the fishing, especially since the water temp probably won't vary too much. thanks

I would look at it like this:

Finals = Grade = potential good paying job.

Fishing = great time = but wondering if I should have stayed at home studying.

That would be the parent in me talking.

Now, what I would have done. I would go fishing and don't worry about studying, but worry about how I was going to tell my parents why I didn't do well on the tests. :D

the aspect of the front that really affects fishing is the change in pressure. When a low pressure system moves through many species of fish develop lock-jaw. So for many it's not that they don't want to eat, but can't eat. The lightening and thunder play a part as well, but that's not where the extended effects come from.

Anyhow, the length of the slow fishing is proportional to the decrease in pressure. Generally, the sunny, cold days after a front are no good – usually 2-3. When the barometer starts to rise again means the fishing should be returning to normal very soon.

At least that's my 2 cents. I'd say Tuesday before things turnaround, but a broken clock is right twice a day too.

If by "finals" you mean classes like math, economics, and english, etc.., probably better study. However, if it's music appreciation, modern dance interpretation, or intermediate swimming, then I say go fishing! Years ago I actually made it to the final interview stage BECAUSE I fly fished and tied flies! Never mind a masters degree and foreign language skills... How cool is that?! If you go saturday I might see ya there chase...good luck.

Never like the sunny days after bad weather, too much, but then again Ive had some really good days too.

The way I look at it, if its got to be good for you to enjoy the day you really should be somewhere else. Otherwise relax and just enjoy being fishing not catching _ that's the therapy.

What I can also tell you is Thursday morning was REALLY good.

No-one on the river, coooold but hungry fish.

Caught a bunch on egg patterns, couple on San Juans and then some on a red TDM

Just drive carefully on those roads

Cheers

Hey guys, i am going to be heading out saturday morning but ive got to be back to fayetteville by noon. If your coming out patrick let me know what time and if you are bringing the boat or wading, ill keep an eye out. Steve, or anyone for this matter, i have never fished an egg pattern. Do you use an indicator and just keep it close to the bottom as you would a nymph? thanks and hopefully ill see someone out there
