New Angler

I recently moved to Springfield from California. I'm 38 and I never fished in my life. I got myself a couple of fishing combos, tackle box and some basic tackle items. However I don't know how to use any of these items or what tackle goes with what. I found this forum I hope that someone can help me. I'm looking to make some friends and in the process learn to fish.

Is there anyone interested in helping a new angler from Cali and in the process gain a friend?
