Members choclabs Posted December 2, 2006 Members Posted December 2, 2006 I am going to try tying some stonefly and terestrial patterns. What is the best kind/type of foam to get and where?
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I get mine from hobby lobby. The 2mm children's foam. I forget how many sheets you get, but there's a bunch in all kinds of colors. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
Members Stuartwp Posted December 2, 2006 Members Posted December 2, 2006 I use the same thing that Kansas Fly Fisher uses. It comes in all kinds of colors and a couple different thickness. Most any of the hobby craft stores carry it. I have used the thicker foam for home made fly boxes. I just cut out a couple of squares that fits in the bottom of one of those metal Sucrets boxes, or an Altoid Mint box. Glue one square to the lid and one to the bottom and Presto a fly box for you new foam flies! Have fun!
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Great idea Flem! I hadn't thought about the fly box thing. I'll have to try that. Thanks. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
