Members schultedillon Posted August 31, 2013 Members Posted August 31, 2013 I would like to think everyone on this forum who helped me this week with reading the water levels, directing me in the best spots to fish, and letting me know what lures they recommend. A couple of friends and I went fishing down the paved parking lot area at the end of Road 990 in gore oklahoma. We arrived around 6:10am while it was still dark along with a few other cars that were already down there. In the first three hours we all limited out on Rainbow Trout. The lures we used were Rooster Tails, Mini Crankbait, and attempted with micro jigs with no luck. Unfortunatly no Brown trout were caught. In two week I will be heading to Roaring River so wish me luck!
On The Fly 6 Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Oh the horror! Im a catch and release guy, but if youre gonna eat them then by all means keep them. JCWolfe Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 You wouldnt have got a brown that was big enought to keep anyhow. They did stock some bigger ones late last year. I got one that was 15 or 16", don't remember for sure without looking, but for the most part those little browns they stocked earlier in the year are getting bigger. I got 5 browns and lost 2 on monday. Brown has to be 20" or bigger. A guy showed me a pic from years ago of one he caught that was 4 pounds. That was before we started having fish kills and major flooding a few years back Okiemountaineer
Members schultedillon Posted September 1, 2013 Author Members Posted September 1, 2013 I dont always keep the fish I catch but I decided to this time as we traveled 1.5 hours just to get there and we havent ate trout in a couple wears. We will be eating them tonight though and I realeased many of others, we didnt keep everything we caught. Yeah I honestly didnt expect to catch a 20 inch brown trout but I was hopeful. Someone caught a pretty big carp though. My friend caught a massive rainbow but it broke his line before I could reach him with the net.
