steve l Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Wife & I looking at the fall float the first weekend in October. Put on Thursday go two nights to Saturday. We really just drift & fish. Try to stay away from that paddling stuff as much as we can. I have not been on the Niangua since like '89, the wife never. So thinking about it. What would I get out of Moon Valley to Prosperine? Would camp somewhere above Bennett, and then somewhere below Bennett. Distance seems about right. Is there enough gravel (looks like it on Google Earth)? My guess is crowds would be largely avoided given when? Good float? Am I better off going back to the Current Round to Two Rivers or BP Slabtown to Ross? Any info appreciated.
Wayne SW/MO Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 That time of the year it will be shallow from Moon Valley to the spring. You might want to consider either Moon V or Ft Niangua to Mountain Fork. You don't want to leave a vehicle at Prosperine and MF is private and right next door. I definitely would camp below the spring. You'll do much better in finding a good bar with fishing below. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Goggle-Eyed Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I ran about a mile or mile and half above Bennett today and the fishing was NOT good. I managed to turn a few but it was very slow, both the water and the fishing. I hadn't been that far up in about 5-7 years and was very disappointed in the fishing... Probably won't hit that part of the river except in the spring from now on...
steve l Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 Just a quick note of thanks for the replies.

KCRIVERRAT Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Well, there's lots of guys who live closer than you or me on this forum. But I'm closer than you by far and have been in the area alot through the years. I live around KC if you know where that's at. Follow the locals advice on here.... or move south of I-44 here in the Show-Me-State. My opinion only... HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
