I fished from Marval to Watts. On the water at noon and off about 4:30. On the fly I caught 1 rainbow about 12" and foul hooked a carp about 5 lbs.

Caught a black bass on conventional tackle, topwater.

I didn't fly fish that much because I usually stand up in my kayak until I see some fish then get out and try that area. Can't see hardly anything today. The water was slightly clearer closer to Marval that up closer to Watts.

Saw a Bald Eagle cruising low over the water at Marval.

I guess the water is dirty in the lake and thus coming out dirty too? Somebody post up when it clears up please. 2.5 hour drive to dirty water is not worth it.

Thanks, John

It will probably be a couple months is my guess based on prior years till it clears up. I fish there probably more than most so that is why I have success dirty water or no dirty water.

Lake is turning over is why its dirty plus D.O. levels are low, doesnt help fishing everywhere. Some places are better than others

Yeah, I can see that if you had all your fish holding spots memorized that even a little dirty water would not hurt. I am a sight fisherman. Mostly at the gulf coast around Corpus Christi so if I can't see the fish it just does not turn me on.

I couldn't even get any of those big ole stripers to come up on a big topwater bait (conventional tackle). I presume they are still there and that they don't migrate out of the river?

Keep me posted when it clears up. It is beautiful over there and a nice change of pace from the saltwater flats.

Thanks for the info,

John

Havent heard of many stripers being caught upriver, mainly down river where LIR and Arkansas meet. Pm me or post up if your thinking about heading to fish again and hopefully I can update you.

Will do. For a while it will be bow hunting keeping me busy.
