Members WOZ Posted December 5, 2013 Author Members Posted December 5, 2013 Can you use a float tube at Walker? And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth. Then he made the earth round...... And he laughed and laughed and laughed....

ozark trout fisher Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Argh! I was so spoiled in Oregon! Don't worry, everything that isn't spring fed will likely be frozen soon anyway. Time to start devising your strategies for breaking ice far enough out to hopefully catch fish without actually putting yourself in danger by going out on it. You would be surprised by just how creative some get. Of course if there is a dock that simplifies matters, but those areas get fished out pretty quick.................... When they're frozen, figuring out how to get a line in the water is half the fun of winter trout fishing on the ponds. I value remote streams and wild trout as much as about anyone, but curiously its something I still enjoy.
Members WOZ Posted December 5, 2013 Author Members Posted December 5, 2013 When they're frozen, figuring out how to get a line in the water... 5 lb bar bell weight on a rope - tossing it out may work if the ice isn't too thick. Of course, that would get you a few looks! And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth. Then he made the earth round...... And he laughed and laughed and laughed....
Geoff Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 That's what they do at Busch. milk jugs full of concrete, rope around the handle. "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."

Of course, that would get you a few looks! Yep, that is the general idea. Wouldn't worry about the funny looks......chances are you wouldn't be the only one doing it. People do crazy things for trout!
Kayser Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 So, just out of curiosity, is it against the rules to actually ice fish at Busch? This bout of cold might be enough to put that magical 4" on the lakes. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
