Hello to all, and thank you for allowing me to post on the forum.

I will be coming up from Dallas to fish for a few days starting the morning of Feb 7th.

Does anyone know of or can recommend a guide that might be willing to take out a seasoned fly-fishing veteran and get me into some fish.

I will require no instruction or equipment, strictly someone to point me and another friend in the right direction. Your stretch of water is a long one and I hate to waste valuable time fishing in the wrong areas.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

On the Little Red for fly fishing, I would look no farther than Jamie Rouse guide service. He has a couple guys that work with him that are awesome as well. I fished with Matt Milner that works with him, highly recommend him if you can't fish with Jamie. Don't have there number handy, but you should be able to google it. Good luck, and post a report!!

Thanks, I actually have an email out to him as I type. A friend of mine who guides on the Lower Provo recommended him too.

Just found out that he is booked solid that weekend. Ouch.

Man, that's to bad, they are pretty awesome fly guides. There's not a lot to chose from on the Little Red I don't think. Might some lesser known one somewhere. Jeff Smith with Trout Magnet, guides there, but he's using trout magnets obviously, so not sure about the fly fishing option with him? Good luck, if you can't find a guide, post on here before hand, somebody can help you out. Hoglaw, post on this page some, he knows a lot about the river, I have only fished a section or two of the river, I usually fish near Lobo Landing area. Good luck

Yeah, I have been reading up on the other threads and am beginning to think I can just wing it. I am staying on Cow Shoals because I heard it was wadable (all I am doing), but someone just told me it was overrun with moss in October. Maybe the cold weather lately has killed it off?

I'm hearing Swinging Bridge, Cow Shoals, JFK Park.

Are you going to be wading in, or rent a boat? If you want to rent a boat, you can rent one at Lobo Landing near Pangburn, from there to dripping springs access is good fishing. JFK is right by the dam if you wanna wade fish, if there running water out the dam, you may want to boat. I've never fished Cow Shoals, and that's probably the go to place for brown trout on the fly from what I hear.

Greg Seaton ,search little red fly fishing guide service, Greg is a good guide and fun to fish with. You can't depend on wade fishing at the Little Red the gen schedule changes too often. Greg has a jet boat and can fish anywhere on the river.

If you can't find a guide, canoe it. Float from cow shoals to swinging bridge (put in sucks) or from swinging bridge to lobo (longer float and you'll do a lot of paddeling towards the end). Both floats will get you on water that doesn't get beat to death. That's the best way to do the river on low water. There are some terrific shoals below swinging for about three miles. Best fishing om the cow float is cow shoals itself and about 300 yards below. There's also a great wading shoal at the mid point but folks can access it privately I think. Idk about guides.
