WHARFRAT Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Prairie lake is on the Weldon spring area and it may be permissible to have a private boat on it. Not sure you would need it though it's a pretty small lake. I haven't seen it in a long time but it looked to be leaking or drying up a few years back. I was told absolutely no boats of any kind on Prairie Lake, this was 4 - 5 yrs back, so not sure if anything has changed recently. It would be nice to have a small boat on the lake. It's big enough where you could use one. Its pretty rough walking on the other side of the lake. Lots of small crappie in there. Needs to be harvested. It did get pretty low a couple yrs ago, but then again, everything dried up. I think they worked on the dam area adjacent to hwy 94, so it must have had some issues. @lozcrappie
Members Muddler4 Posted January 28, 2014 Members Posted January 28, 2014 I see people occasionally use inflatables or kayaks on Busch and Weldon (mostly on the walk-ins that are not visible from the road) but it's not legal. Not sure what happens when they catch you though. Maybe just a slap on the wrist or maybe a fine. It would be nice to take belly boat, inflatable pontoon or kayak on Prairie but at Busch it's pretty hard to beat the $5 dollar rental for a boat that is already on the water.
Members Gutpile Posted May 16, 2014 Members Posted May 16, 2014 Yeah, at Busch it is $5.30 total including tax. The keys are only specific to the lakes. So if you get to a lake and your boat number is waterlogged or just crappy you can unlock any boat on that lake. If you decide to change lakes, just go back to where you rented the boat tell em you'd like to swap for another lake, they will swap keys and you can get a boat on a different lake for no additional charge. I have my on TM and battery, pretty sweet deal if you ask me.
