Randall Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 i don't think mdc really could regulate shuffling without making wading illegal. all a shuffler is doing is moving their feet across the bottom; we all do the same when we wade. the only real way to alleviate the problem is to ridicule the offenders. if you see a person doing it, either say something to their face, or if you don't like confrontation, make snide comments loudly and within earshot, just be ready to be punked if you try the second. ask what they're doing, then say something like, "dude, be sporting." or "if you want, i can teach you to fish right... it ain't that hard" also remember, the more people approach a person, the more compliant they become. even try to explain environmental effects, some people just don't know any better. if a person just laughs at you and doesn't care, get your buddies and crowd around them. if nothing else, its fun to beat people at the "its legal... do something about it" game, and you might just let em know the practice won't be tolerated. as for the boats, a no wake law in certain parts of the lake could quickly put an end to that problem. Cute animals taste better.
motroutbum Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 I posted a picture of a sign in the general discussions about rude people but ill post it here as well....at least in NM on the San Juan below Navajo Dam it is illegal to shuffle...read the sign carefully.... There are two types of people. Those who dream dreams and wish, then there are the do'ers. I am a do'er!
Danoinark Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 I don't have my MDC regs handy, but is shuffling actually mentioned in the rules and regs? If not why is it not. Seems that is one that should be on the books....Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"

My understanding is that there have been efforts made to make this illegal but those efforts were not productive, primarily from an enforcement standpoint. I wish it were illegal but...from what I have seen over the years, enforcement of fishing regs seems to be a very low priority. A shame! Bob A

Bob A Bob I am sure you are right I think some specific language would have to be included that would strictly define what it is in order to give agents guidelines in how to enforce it....Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
