Members FrozenFingers Posted March 16, 2014 Members Posted March 16, 2014 I was wondering if anyone has fished and had any good luck at the river beside the sac river bike trails and the water treatment plant. Ive fished there a few times only cought some small smallmouths a couple largemouths and some grass carp i think they are. Bow fishing for carp is very good down there if you find the right spots. I should probably mention I fly fish so if anyone knows what works down there i would greatly appreciate it.
Members ThomHardy Posted March 17, 2014 Members Posted March 17, 2014 Do you fly fish for carp also? It can work well. Very exciting.
Members FrozenFingers Posted March 17, 2014 Author Members Posted March 17, 2014 I plan to this spring if time allows. My fly rod is a 7'6" 5 weight im not sure if it would hold up to a big carp. Im new to fly fishing any suggestions on flys that work good for carp.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 The rod should be fine. You might do some searching on line for carp flies. There are several blogs dedicated to flyrod carping. The popular flies are fairly easy to tie and the list isn't very long. Troutnut69, a member, has a blog and he does some carping. http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/ Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
