Members alletec Posted December 20, 2006 Members Posted December 20, 2006 My father and I will be on Tany in January for trout but I like to bass fish when the trout are slow. Can any one tell me what the bass are doning in the winter? I bass fish in the summer months but never in the winter. I would think they would move up stream to look for warmer water, is this true? MOBass Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 You couldn't call this past week winter but I found fish on main lake boat docks this past Friday. Two weeks prior we couldn't get a fish off a dock and found them on bluff banks. I haven't fished any of the creeks lately. If January continues to be mild I would probably give the boat docks and bluffs a try first and then start looking up the creeks after those two options. I did find some white bass and small LMB down by Forsythe a few weeks ago. The water temp dropped a little and they took a powder. If there were a series of warm days I would probably go looking for them again.
Members alletec Posted December 21, 2006 Author Members Posted December 21, 2006 MOBass, Thanks for the info. Would the bass be down stream of Branson or up stream? What type of baits? I just read the article in Bassmasters about Football jigs in Ozark lakes, thought I might try some of them. I always look for smallmouth bass but have not found any yet. Do you have any advice for smallies. Thanks again. Alletec Jeff Alley
