Members cReekFishin Posted April 18, 2014 Members Posted April 18, 2014 Went down to the James this morning right where the Finley runs in. Went on downstream to a hole that's usually pretty productive. had one bite on a tube, but couldn't land it. Bad hook set on my part. Threw a finesse jig with a craw, couple jerk baits, and a wacky worm with no luck. Started walking back to the jeep along the Finley and stopped at the only hole in the area. Threw a bitsy tube, green pumpkin, and bam! 14" smallie. That would prove to be the only decent smallie of the day. Caught a couple dinks afterwards. I did manage to catch 20+ Google eye in the same hole though. A few very nice ones, but most were in the 6-7" range. Not what I was after but they made the trip worth it.
Buzz Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Sometimes goggle eye can save the day. They can be a blast when you locate a bunch of them. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
