Also planning a trip on the upper stretch this weekend. Where does the Buck Hollow gauge need to be to paddle a loaded canoe at the prongs? Also, how far is it from Buck Hollow to Bay Creek or Alley Spring. I see different estimates depending on where I look.

How many days are you floating? Are you planning on fishing a bunch? Just where have you researched river miles?

If you've never floated the upper JF and are planning on camping on the river, I'd skip the Prongs but I have no idea what kinda trip you're looking at or how many people.

With a loaded canoe you will be okay with buck hollow gauge reading 1.7 or higher. Windys canoe has pretty accurate times. Keep in mind if your fishing you could add hours EASY. Those times are based on just floating.

Working on it KCRIVERRAT. This time next year will probably have one there. Let me know if you hear of a good used one on the cheap.....Our place is pretty close to Blue Spring...north side. This trip just want to see that local stretch.

The last few trips down have been cutting brush and digging. This one is going to be mostly for fun.

If your soul purpose of being on this river is fishing I highly recommend a good fishing kayak. I own a Ascend FS12T. It does spectacular and even when the gauges are low dragging is never a real big issue.
