Members Fishin22 Posted May 20, 2014 Members Posted May 20, 2014 I had a bass tournament at Stockton this weekend and it was tough. We threw Crank Baits Most of the day with Little Luck. I caught 1 Walleye and 1 White bass. I put on a senko worm with a #2 Gamakatsu wacky hook. Watermelon Seed and Watermelon red worms. Weightless and on beds is what we had to do to catch them! I have another Tournament coming up and could use some advice and help!
hknfsh Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Hey fishin22....don't feel bad about the crankbait bite. 2 weeks ago it was wart heaven then this past weekend zilch ! For me they won't chase any moving baits , be it cranks or blades. I had a fantastic weekend throwing a Shakey head shallow out to 15 fow. They couldn't get enough of it. Look for chunk rock and/or gravel banks. Backs of coves were better for me. Hope this helps some.
9LB Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 i would try shallow running bluegill colored square bills, I have been getting bit pretty good on it. Put some purple in your plastic selections.
Bitethis Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 crankbait bit was HOT yesterday...50+ bass (12-15 keepers), and 1 walley that was 30" between 2 guys. Medium diving crank, green and black.
Members Fishin22 Posted May 21, 2014 Author Members Posted May 21, 2014 Thanks guys. 9lbs, i was throwing a squarebill crankbait that was blue gill colored and that is what i caught the walleye on but nothing else.
9LB Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 This is why i love this forum. Just took the bluegill color off the cranking stick and put on a mid running green and black Norman. I will start flinging that first. You just feel better on that first cast with a little bit of insight. I am sure after an hour or so of bass Fishing the walleyes will start calling me. I am also sure it is time to get them in the Spook, they were hammering it on the Rock last weekend.
Members whitebassman Posted May 23, 2014 Members Posted May 23, 2014 The bass have been hammer'n the jig and chunk for me. Watermelon green
dennis boatman Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 6" Pink Worm...no weight...twitch it fast...let it settle till it's out of sight...twitch to the surface...repeat... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
