Members jibro Posted June 2, 2014 Members Posted June 2, 2014 haven't floated this is river in about 5 years. How are the water levels right now? I haven't settled on a float yet so if anyone has any suggestions on a good stretch to fish that would be helpdful. How many people should i expect to run into on the river? We will be camping at Circle B but i have my own canoe we will be bringing SG
Members jibro Posted June 2, 2014 Author Members Posted June 2, 2014 how long is the float from Eminence to 2 rivers? SG
KCRIVERRAT Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 how long is the float from Eminence to 2 rivers? 8 miles. Canceled our Upper Jacks float for this weekend because of the low water. River needs rain (doesn't everybody?) but don't want to float and camp in thunderstorms. Good luck! HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
Members jibro Posted June 2, 2014 Author Members Posted June 2, 2014 yeah i have been watching the weather carefully, at this point looks like about 30-40% chance of spotty thunderstorms which isnt enough to keep me from going. Temps looks fantastic. I am taking my niece who is dying to go fish/float/camp so I think we will literally be there through hell or high water LOL SG
GloryDaze Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Honestly though, really be careful with the flooding. I put a post on the Buffalo River forum last August about me and my buddy getting stuck in a flash flood. There was little if any chance for rain that weekend and on Friday night the sky opened up and we got stuck on the river for an extra day. Also that section of the Buffalo has similar traits to the Upper Jacks. Steep canyon walls, narrow river and can rise really fast. I would say 30-40 percent chance is not enough to keep me off the river either. Enjoy and have a blast! Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory
Members jibro Posted June 2, 2014 Author Members Posted June 2, 2014 thank you all for the suggestions. I will be sure to give a report when i return. As it stands right now i think we will put in at Circle B and take out at 2 rivers. SG
Members jibro Posted June 5, 2014 Author Members Posted June 5, 2014 well im sad to say i think we may have to bail due to the storms. ill still be watching the weather tomorrow before time to leave but its not looking good right now. looks like there maybe some severe weather. i can do rain, snow, sleet, hail but lightning is another story. Unfortunately i have one sad little niece right now who is dying to go fishing SG
KCRIVERRAT Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Rivers in southern Missouri can be dangerous one weekend and perfect the next (if not before). Watch the weather and you'll be fine. Especially if you're floating Eminence to the JF. Keep in touch with your outfitter. HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
