Members Dougie Posted July 12, 2014 Members Posted July 12, 2014 Not sure about that far down but we fished from deleware to shelvin a few weeks back and had a great time. The fishing was hot on anything white and shiny small spinners, roster tails, white grubs, small crank baits. Good luck and tell us how it goes
jbooth24 Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 I will let you know how it goes. I am planning on going to float from springfield lake darn to hooten town hardly know one fishes from the darn to the first access point
vonreed Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I will let you know how it goes. I am planning on going to float from springfield lake darn to hooten town hardly know one fishes from the darn to the first access point I assume you are camping on that float, because that is a very long float/drag. The catfish are biting awesome, if you find their little holes.
jbooth24 Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 I do plan on camping I'm taking my vacation and need a much get away from the city. I also thought about just floating it down to galena would be a nice 3 or 4 day float. Am I hear by river cut there is some really good smallmouth and large mouth bass all throu there. I was going to run a trout line at night and catch some catfish.
Fishslayer88 Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 The past 4-5 days have been pretty good early morning and in the evening for bass and catfish. Ive been catching cats in deep pools just below some fast water on netted sucker minnows and bass on buzzbaits and anything that looks like a crawfish.
jbooth24 Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 I have been having a lot of luck on live cr dad's with the gogle eye and some little small mouth have been biting them. I have seen some nice size large mouth swim by the canoe but I caint ever get them to bite
vonreed Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Wow it sounds like you are gonna have some fun. Maybe I will see you float by me somewhere. I plan on being on the river with my boy both days, but will be walking in on private ground to try and avoid the crowds. Good luck.
jbooth24 Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 I just might and good luck to you also it's always nice to meet a fellow forem guy on the river
ozark trout fisher Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Did pretty well yesterday floating from Springfield Lake on down to a private take-out. Good bass fishing, especially on Rebel Craws and just about every other type of smallish crankbait. I've never fished there until yesterday so I don't know what the normal clarity is, but it was about 2+ feet of visibilty and cloudy. But not off-color enough to do anything but make the fish less suspicous. Pretty little river, even in that relatively "urban" stretch.
