Members watersquatch Posted July 26, 2014 Members Posted July 26, 2014 Hey all, I'm new to the area and a looking at getting my first James River float under my belt but I have a few questions: -Which access points make for a good 4-5 hr float this time of year? -Are there any canoe rental businesses that will transport me and my kayak upstream so I can float back down to my vehicle? Any info is greatly appreciated, Thanks
Members Dougie Posted July 26, 2014 Members Posted July 26, 2014 Shelvin Rock to Hootentown and I'm pretty sure they will take you upstream to Shelvin for a small fee.
jbooth24 Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Kerr acess to galena is a good one. And James river outfitters will drop you off and so will camp Harlow for a small fee
MeatintheFreezer Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Galena on down to Blunks is another good float. JRO shuttles that as well. Remember - If at first you DO succeed, try not to act surprised & quit while you're ahead.
