hey guys, my grandma used to own glastone cottages in rockaway for many years and I spent a couple years out there when I was young. I haven't been back to the area in almost 17-20 years. I now have a family of my own and have regularly had dreams that take me back there and I wake up excited and ready to go back, well we will be heading back there for a week when kid is on spring break to show them where I grew up. I know that the fishing island is still there and is an ok spot to fish, just wondering if there are any other spot we should check out for trout and crappie. im a strong believer in CPR (catch picture release) fishing. we are looking on dates between april 4-12th. any tips or any advice on area will be greatly appreciated. sorry for long post. :yarr:

Mostly shore fishing. If funds allow it we may rent a boat one day but for now just shoreline

I know fishing is good up by table rock dam and we will fish that area one or 2 days, but mostly down near rockaway beach.

Fishing can be very good at Empire Park in Ozark Beach.

To be honest there isn't much in Rockaway anymore. You'll have to rely on other areas if you want carry out beyond Pizza. You can get a good pizza.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Wow.... I understand the sentimental part of your msg. I am an OH transplant 30+ years ago and the Ozarks is really hard to shake, especially with family. That is why I stayed here. There are some HUGE fish (Crappie and Bass) on this end. If you are land locked when you get here let me know and will try to help with a Sea Eagle inflatable, canoe, and a kayak. If it helps your family share some of your memories, I would be more than happy to do so. I just ask that everyone is outfitted with life jackets.
