Fished Bennett with two buddies on the 6th. The two of us using flyrods had a good day, catching 50 to 60 trout apiece in about 6 hours of fishing. Our friend with the spinning rod didn't fare as well catching only around 20 he said. Fished from the dam down to whistle bridge spending most of our time working the edges or any shallow riffle water with various small scud patterns below an indicator. A size #18 or #20 in a dark gray or olive color was the top producer. Bennett can fish well when up slightly and discolored, just fish the edges where the fish can get out of the mainstream current.

I've never really had a bad day (as far as numbers caught) at Bennett either. One of the best days I ever had was in a downpour a couple of years ago. I was at Bennett yesterday and there were very few people and the fishing was pretty good.

I was down for 4 days just after Christmas. It rained part of the time and didn't appear to have slowed down the fish. On 1-1-07 (Monday) I seemed to be the only one on the river from 0800 to 0930. Fishing was outstanding. If you are drifting a skud or nymph definately go under the bridge and hit that hole. Then try sight fishing the skinny water below the bridge. There's a nice little (football) brown trout in the skinny water I caught 2 times. There's also a nice smally in the hole under the bridge.

Like an old timer told me. If you don't know what to fish at BSP just make sure it's green.

If you were really fishing on Monday, you were the only person because the park was closed. Anyway, fishing was good a couple of weeks ago on midges and small cream dries. Not many big fish, but a lot fish.

Why was it closed? All the trout parks are open on Mondays.

I was the only one in the hole just above the bridge/below the dam till approximately 0930. Then another guy and I had it for another hour. Oh did I mention they did sound the siren. I was standing up on the bridge admiring the view of my private stream.

Later in the day I counted some where around 30 other fisherman throughout the park.

The only thing that was closed was the store.

In past years the parks have only been open Fri-Sun during catch and release. If the rules have changed, my apologies.

I was just looking around and sure enough mondays were added this year. Learn something new every day.
