Wade Fishing Upper Black

Be prepared to do some walking. The fish-holding water just about anywhere on upper Black, including the West Fork and Middle Fork, is separated by long, shallow riffles. Wading is usually easy, with lots of bare gravel bars to walk along and plenty of shallow water that's easy to wade, but the fish are somewhat scattered. If you don't mind hiking a lot along the river, the two forks above their confluence are more wadeable than the river below. (and yes, there is an East Fork as well, but it can be nearly dry between the pools if there hasn't been recent rain.)
