chris3179 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Heading to lake quachita for the weekend. Any tips? Never fished there. Initial thought is to troll flicker minnows and shad to locate, then go from there. Thanks in advance.
J-Doc Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 No clue. Only fished it once and that was for bass years ago. I think points around islands are good places to look. Good luck. kjackson Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I've fished it several times, but never from my own boat, so I can't speak for trolling. If you're after 'eyes--there are some islands (I want to say toward the eastern end but I'm not too sure of the location) that have saddles and extended points that will hold them. However, I've seen smaller walleyes caught on longer points as well. Bass were feeding on flats, mostly, on one of my fall trips. Crappies were on brush piles--be sure and look for "unofficial" brush placed there by the locals.
J-Doc Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Yes it's the east side for the islands and the saddles and points is where I was thinking. Need marine repair? chris3179 Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 Gotcha. Thanks for the intel. I am going to scan a little this evening and for crappie spots and then see how far we are from those islands. We are staying at the harbor inn resort.
J-Doc Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Cool. Post a report. I might venture down there myself this fall. Have a buddy that lives in the area. Need marine repair? chris3179 Posted September 21, 2014 Author Posted September 21, 2014 First off, it was a family reunion and I didn't get a lot of fishing in. I got to take my dad (who was in from Afghanistan) and the man who tought me to fish (my 86 year old grandpa) out for about 1.5 hours of fishing. Trolled flickr minnow 7 and two flicker shad 7's and wore them out. Lost something big right off the bat, then landed 8 or so just like this. Lost several due to talking and BS'ing.
J-Doc Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Well that sounds like a great trip to me!! A treasured experience!! Congrats! How do you like those H20 rods? I have about 5 i think. I love them. Super light, good sensitivity. I have both spinning and trigger rods. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!!
