I have a pair of the Guide Tech waders that I've had for 2+ years, so far, they've been great. I've been impressed with the construction and NO LEAKS... What more could you want.

They look great too.

i personally love my simms. I dont know much about the cabelas waders but you cant beat the simms guarantee and quality. I know cabelas sells the simms so that would be my choice to buy if i had the gift cards.

sounds like the cabelas waders are a good deal too!

I had a pair of of Cabela's Dry Plus Warrior Waders, that's the breathable camo ones for duck hunting. So far, they are the best breathables I have ever had...period. But I just got a new pair of WJ waders that I've only worn once. So I can't compare them for durability yet. I put about 400 days of VERY hard abuse on those Dry Plus waders before they got a little leak. And I mean abuse...not use. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat and may go back to them if these WJ's don't meet my expectations for durability. But they sure look and feel like they will and I have great confidence in the WJ brand.

What is this brand WJ you speak of?

Since this thread seems to be a alive still I will give an update.

After hours trying on and a hasty in store exchange I ended up with a pair fo the 2006 model Guide Tech waders. They are the 2 tone pair with the detachable chest pack. I was a bit disappointed that the 2007s didnt come in a Tall. I seem to be an odd size and the regulars made me feel like i was wearing some of my wife's undies. The 2007 model has a waterproof pouch in the front that seemed much less obtrusive instead of the chest pack that sticks out a couple inches. Although it is detachable, it still leaves a zipper that would occasionally hang on my vest. I will probably appreciate it more in the summer when i am trying to shed layers instead of add them.

I fished them over a weekend at Taney and Roaring River in mid January. I like them a lot over my old waders. The stocking feet are a bit thicker and I will be needing new boots. The legs are also tapered more than my old waders. They are thinner around the ankles and lower legs. I wasn't sure about the fit at first but I am very happy now that I have had them out on the water.

Buying waders is ALWAYS an adventure for sure.....
