New Place In Branson Sweetwater Inn

We tried a new place a couple weeks ago. I think it's only been open a couple months.

Sweetwater Inn Cafe and Bar. Located at 5378 State Highway 265. That's the former Pepper Bellies, and be for that a Mediterranean restaurant just North of Billy Gail's, Compton Ridge, and SDC' Wilderness camp ground.

The building has been remodeled, and looks very good. There are separate entrances to the bar section, which allows smoking, and the cafe which does not. Inside there is a wall between the two areas with Windows, and a door. It seems to do an excellent job of containing any traces of cigarette smoke because my wife who is very sensitive to it did not notice anything at all.

The menu is pretty basic bar & grill items. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, and the usual appetizers. The burgers are not frozen patties, but made from fresh bulk hamburger. The fries are hand cut, and very good. Even if they are in what I've come to call "Branson style". Kind of limp, and moist. Not crispy on the outside.

Wife and I both decided to try the Friday night special. BBQ Country Ribs. They were served dry, with BBQ sauce on the side. Very thick cuts, seasoned well, and smoked to perfection. They were a lot more tender than any other Country Ribs I have had. BTW, Country Ribs aren't ribs as many know them, but rather strips of meat cut from the sirloin of the pig.

The serving size was very large. So much so I even took home enough for dinner the next day.

Service was friendly, and efficient.

One note for anybody with a three row seating SUV full of crumb crunchers. There is no child's menu, and drinks are all the same large ice tea glass size with no lids. They do have a corn dog, and chicken tenders that kids would like. But they are regular menu priced, and large servings. I heard the corn dog is a foot long size, and the best some people have ever had.

I'm looking forward to returning again to give the burger a try.

Not to change the subject, well not much anyway. The Old Farmhouse in downtown is basicaly no longer. It was apperently sold, probably last winter. The new Farm House has higher prices, no specials and the old staff is gone. FYI. The food and much of the menu is the same as is the quality.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

SAY IT ISN'T SO!!! No more all you can eat catfish on Friday, and Saturday? And I guess my loyalty card that was almost punched out isn't good any more either.

I'm really surprised I didn't hear about it on 1branson.com. The folks on there are usually up to date on Darwin's joints in Btown. Especially the really good ones.

Nope, not true. This is the answer I got from them when I sent an email this morning asking about the change.

"I don't know where you heard this but it is not true so bring on the punch card its good."

The last time we were there there was no friday night all you can eat cat. Broke my heart too.

Waiting for a reply from the owner about the all you can eat catfish. He did say the sale was not true, and my punch card is still good, but didn't mention the catfish in his first reply. I mentioned the disappointment if it has been eliminated, but so goes business. If they have to raise the price above what people are willing to pay just to make a decent profit, it goes away.

I based the sale thought on the fact that the guy patrolling the register was new to me, as were all the servers. There were no specials either. When I say specials I'm talking about the standard every week day specials that were offered on certain days.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
