Members Ryker Posted December 29, 2014 Members Posted December 29, 2014 I'm headed to the LRR this week. If they are running two units, is it worth my time to try to float from JFK, or should I just wait for the water to subside? Thx. -R
Plastic_worm Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 What are you floating in? In a boat sure!! Kayak...I wouldn't recommend it unless you are VERY familiar with the river. Fishing is tough from a kayak on 2 units...boat control is a real issue....hard to fish and avoid obstacles...or really hard to fight a fish and control the kayak. I'd start down river and avoid it..SB, Libby, Lobo, or Dripping Springs...the further down river you go the more time you have to fish before the water arrives. If you go wear a PFD. hoglaw Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 That pangburn to Ramsey stretch is a good one if you're expecting a rise. It's a long way down river, and it's a tame enough stretch that it's not bad to navigate out when it does come up.
LittleRedFisherman Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I was there last weekend and they haven't been generating much at all. This cold snap might change that? The lake is pretty low I heard There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Plastic_worm Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Yep...min flow on weekends has been the norm for several weeks. Fish are active!! Members Ryker Posted January 3, 2015 Author Members Posted January 3, 2015 Fellas, Thanks for the response. Since they weren't generating, we were able to wade everyday. We didn't have to worry about floating it. -R Plastic_worm 1
