Dkman Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 May head up Saturday to wet a line. Before I drive up does anyone in the area know if the water is frozen at the ramps for launching? Mainly interested in Ruark or CC. Thanks in advance.
ten_scoach Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Yes, I would love to hear too. Heard areas of the lake froze solid this am.
Members lundone Posted January 9, 2015 Members Posted January 9, 2015 Main lake at Y highway bridge was open. Turkey Creek cove off 215 was frozen as far as I could see from the highway. Haven't checked the ramps but if I were going to launch I would be sure to have a bag of salt with me.
minnowhooker Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I got this info off another web site today it was posted yesterday. Ice is forming in the cove by public ramp at Cedar Ridge. Probly will be frozen in by morning around the dock. The campground ramp is good and will probly remain open for a while. The water temp at State Park was 39 two days ago so not sure bout it yet. Turkey Creek froze up out to close to the mouth.
Members Mike Chamber Posted January 12, 2015 Members Posted January 12, 2015 just be careful, I saw the front of a boat that had hit a submerged piece of ice it was full of water by the time he got back to the doc
Dkman Posted January 12, 2015 Author Posted January 12, 2015 Thanks for the input guys. A friend had made a tour Friday and the ramps we had thought to try were all froze in. You could tell where some duck hunters had broke and launched but had not gotten very far. May look good for this weekend as well with temps in the teens at night this week.
minnowhooker Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Does anybody have any updates on which launches are open????
