Members basscatfan Posted January 23, 2015 Members Posted January 23, 2015 Been chasing the crappie a couple times this week. It's not easy but did manage close to 2 limits both days. Most were suspended under docks bout 12' down over 25' of water. Only bad part is I see hundreds of em under a dock on the graph and can only catch one or two. Then move to the next spot. Good luck.
Members BHowe Posted January 23, 2015 Members Posted January 23, 2015 I went out last night for about an hour and managed to catch 6 biguns. They were on the bottom in about 28 foot of water in a boat slip. Turned loose, didn't feel like cleaning 6 fish. Was nice to get out though.
Bass Enforcer Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 How are you guys catching them? I'm going to try to get to the lake on Monday. One of my buddies is not much of a fisherman. I'm hoping to put him/us on some fish. Thanks I appreciate the advice in advance. Looks like nice weather coming in.
Members BHowe Posted January 23, 2015 Members Posted January 23, 2015 I was using a 1/16 tube jig tipped with crappie nibble. Casting to the front of the well and letting it sink to the bottom. Don't do a lot of reeling, just bring your rod tip up and feel it bouncing on the brush. 4-6 lb test and a real sensitive rod. If you think your bring it in slow, slow down even more....they are just hitting it as soft as can be.
Bass Enforcer Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Thank you BHowe. I appreciate it. Thank you for the info and good luck fishing. Be careful out there.
Members basscatfan Posted January 24, 2015 Author Members Posted January 24, 2015 Exactly. Slow. Slow. Slow. Only thing I'm doing different is I'm using an 1/8 oz. Jig.
rangerman Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Did any of you guys check for shad balls over creek channels? Last couple of years I have done well with silver buckshot rattle spoons vertically around shad.
Members basscatfan Posted January 24, 2015 Author Members Posted January 24, 2015 I've been looking for that a little bit but haven't seen anything to make me want to stop and fish. But I don't have a lot of experience with that technique.
