Members Hawgfan79 Posted May 6, 2015 Members Posted May 6, 2015 So for Beaver which is pretty much the only lake I fish is the Navionics or Lakemaster chip the best? I read that Lakemaster is better if it's in HD if not Navionics is better. I don't believe Beaver is in HD on Lakemaster, but may be wrong. I also read that Navionics has a lot of lakes that have unservayed areas. Thanks,
Blll Posted May 6, 2015 Author Posted May 6, 2015 IMO the Lakemaster chip is better for how I use them. It's all about the ability to color code certain depths and shallow areas. I usually set a 5' depth range and stay in the colored area. Don't spend a lot of time trying to stay on a certain specific depth. I find it easy to travel in the river channel too and avoid trouble. Only 1 season on Beaver but have not found any errors. Navionics may be better if looking for that "spot on the spot" like cuts on points.
Members Hawgfan79 Posted May 14, 2015 Members Posted May 14, 2015 Thanks for the help; I saw a Lakemaster survey crew boat on Beaver yesterday. Hopefully we will have a HD map of it soon.
Blll Posted May 14, 2015 Author Posted May 14, 2015 I saw him in Bear Creek Cove and was pleased to see him until he half-throttled out and sent a 3' trough into my slip. Gotta get one of those "no-wake" signs.
JohnF52 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 He sent a huge roller toward my smallish boat and I had to turn into it to avoid taking on water. He would run at the speed where he was dragging and not quite on plane.
