Guest Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I don't get to fish as much as I would like, but I keep constant tabs on the water conditions. That way, I know what to do & where to go if I get a chance. Good luck on the eyes, I could use some pointers. Lol
Members Dan Sweeney Posted March 17, 2015 Members Posted March 17, 2015 For what it's worth, the gauge at Wyman Road is up for 54 degrees as of right now. That's still a ways high for getting whites to run up to twin, but it's going in the right direction. I haven't been up the White yet but if the War Eagle is any indication it'll still be pretty thick. It WOULD have gotten okay by this weekend except that we look to be in for some rain and a cool down tomorrow and later this week, so go figure. Still... it might be worth the trip just to check it out. Clay Goforth 1 Silence is golden.
JohnF52 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ar/nwis/uv/?site_no=07048600&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060 Above is the link to the usgs gauge at Wyman Bridge. Check the turbidity. When it gets down to about 20 it is clear enough to fish. For a comparison, the usual turbidity at Prairie Creek would be about a 5 or so. It is not linear. The Wyman gauge turbidity is 22 now but the flow is over 1200 cuft/sec. Needs to get to about 800 to be good.
Guest Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Wow, I had no idea Turbidity was even a choice. More of these stations need all these options like the Wyman Rd gauge. Most of them only have 4 options vs a dozen at that statition. Thanks for pointing that out. I drive over it everyday, so my observation is was close at the molly wagnon bridge. Clear creek needs a gauge down near 112 or Wheeler.
hoglaw Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 That turbidity measurement must be an exponential function. Tremendous difference between 15 and 20.
JohnF52 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 River is slightly on the rise again.....hoping we don't lose the spring fishing due to high waters.
hoglaw Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Guess I'm getting older. Went to bed early and woke up at 3:00 sharp and couldn't go back to sleep. Decided to just come to work since that's what I was already thinking about anyway. Maybe I can knock off this afternoon and try to fish. Looks like turbidity is down under 20, but the water still looks high at 1300 cfs. Is it chocolate milk in the Beavorama area?
Clay Goforth Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Just pulled off the river at Twin Bridges in Goshen. The white run is starting but they seem to be really spread out. I ran way up river to get away from the people and boated 10 nice whites. Only fished for a couple of hours but I consider that I be a slow bite. Ran across a couple of boys and talked walleye with them. They pulled up their stringer to reveal one about 26" and another about 22". The run is definitely in swing. PigSooner Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I've never been that far up river- what is the water depth? Is is strictly flat bottom / river boat territory?
jdelow77 Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I put the canoe in at war eagle , I got skunked today ! Maybe I should have went to twin ...
