Roger Craig Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Weather is not looking promising for my Sunday night, Mon, Tues outing though.
Members dustin.hutchison91 Posted April 4, 2015 Members Posted April 4, 2015 Im new to the area whats the best lure/bait for whites on the james?
Fishslayer88 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Debatable. But there are probably more whites caught every year on an 1/8oz white roostertail and Swimming Minnows then anything.
Members Shad Ball Buster Posted April 4, 2015 Members Posted April 4, 2015 Lots of people use A-rigs, I prefer a light rod 6# test and 1/8 or 1/4 ounce jig head with a swimming minnow or a slider. If the water levels drop down I'll be using a fly rod with a clouser minnow. Hope that helps.
Members steven1231 Posted April 6, 2015 Author Members Posted April 6, 2015 Is the water clearing up yet
Roger Craig Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Went down yesterday afternoon, water still up, but was fishable, caught four nice ones anyhow, more of a dog trip.
Members dustin.hutchison91 Posted April 7, 2015 Members Posted April 7, 2015 hmm need to get off early and head down beautiful day to be out.
Members Shad Ball Buster Posted April 8, 2015 Members Posted April 8, 2015 So I know the water is still up but how's the clarity, or has anyone had much luck night fishing? TThinking about taking the boat down tonight and boating up to the shoals, I've heard they were there before the last flood. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
vonreed Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Go to Taylor Shoals. If you can't catch a fish up there right now, you can't catch a fish..... Period. I was down there tonight and just hammered the crap out of em. I got back on my crappie spot I went to last time and brought home 11 keepers. Threw back many that I'm sure were keepers but I forgot a measuring stick and threw back anything I felt was under 11 inches. Also caught 7 white bass, but wasn't even trying for them. All in about 1 1/2 hours before dark. I'm sure after dark would be great also, but it is still a little dingy possibly. I'd say you could at least catch a few after dark for sure.
Fishslayer88 Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 They shut off when it got good and dark this evening but just before dark was pretty good.
