Went out there this afternoon to clear my head on the account that my grandpa had a stroke and i dont do hospitals well so went out to just have fresh air and nature. I figured while there i would see if the crappie were running up yet. Didnt find any but was in the cove by the dam on the north side fishing off the bank and seen what looked like a walleye swim about 8 ft infront of me (btw water clarity by the dam is crystal clear) so i pitched my curly tail out and blam! Fish on! 18In walleye. So i worked back up the bank and seen a good one but thought i seen it too late cause it took off but i pitched out anyway and on the fifth pitch blam! This one was nice...around 4lbs. The pattern from now till dog days will be on sunny banks in spawning coves and the when real hot back out on channel swings. They will be running the banks though for at least another month. And to finish it i looked up after the second fish and a beautiful bald eagle was up in the tree across the pocket. It was really what i needed and it was deffenit that God was there and saying i got ya!

I was up yesterday evening just for a couple hours crappie fishing. I did really good caught well over 20 fish, the females are definitely staged up to spawn. I found several areas that were holding small schools of females, most were over the top of brushpiles that were in 12 to 17 feet of water and the fish were suspended at about 6 to 8 feet. I caught several females and they were all full of eggs so they went right back as soon as they were caught, the males were on beds close to the females and pretty easy to catch as well. They were all very aggressive and were hitting my jig pretty hard it was a lot of fun, even kept a handful of males for dinner last night. The fish I was on are going to spawn with in the next day or two I would guess and I am sure there are fish on other parts of the lake spawning or getting ready to spawn. All the fish I caught were on a red and char crappie slider or a Berkley gulp alive 3" minnow in the watermelon pearl color both rigged on 1/8 ounce weedless jig heads. This is the time to get out and get after them its pretty easy fishing from a boat or the bank, the beds I was catching males on were 5 or 6 foot deep and were made up of small gravel.

Where you on the south arm, slabstacker? I now know what my problem was yesterday, I was fishing way to deep. I started in 20 and worked my way deeper. I only caught two and that was in 50 foot.

how did your all's tournament go?

I didnt fish the tournament yesterday I am not much for bass fishing but hopefully it went well for everyone. I got up there about 430 and fished until 7. I was on the south side of the lake the entire evening. I started in the cove off the boundary for the dam and caught a lot of fish there then move to a couple other coves on the south side, they all held fish. Brush was what I was targeting the females seemed to be staged above it and the males were between the females and the shoreline. The males have beds made at the same depth that the females are suspended so just go over the piles with your sonar and see were they are holding and that will help you start putting it together. They were hitting moving baits very well and I am sure that a slip bobber and a minnow will work also.
