Members BuschTrout22 Posted January 24, 2007 Members Posted January 24, 2007 Does anyone know the recipe for this? If so could you please share? Going to try for taney here in a few weeks and would like to tie on some #18's. Thanks guys! Danoinark Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Instead of red thread, I use a primrose color, which is a light yellow. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Leonard Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Yes that would be a good color too... Ive been tying this morning with red thread.. and that was the first color that popped in there.. beside I was on the phone when I did that!! http://www.taneycomonights.com
Members BuschTrout22 Posted January 24, 2007 Author Members Posted January 24, 2007 Thanks guys for the replies! I also wanted to say a big thanks to Carolyn and Dan at the river outfitters shop. I called them up for some pattern recipes and they were gracious enough to tell them to me, and send me a personal email with the recipes as well. Talk about top notch service Thanks again! Members thegundog.com Posted January 25, 2007 Members Posted January 25, 2007 Wow! this is THE recipe that I was HOPING someone would send me... but I see how it is now.
brittsnbirds Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Jon- Thought I recognized your picture. If your at Herzog's next year for the Ozanam trials I will bring you some. If you have time I would even show you how I tie them. I didn't make it this year, I usually work for Paul planting or whatever!
back2roots Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Here is the one I use: TMC hook #18 14/0 Primrose thread 2mm bead...copper or gold Pearl flashabou (twisted) Ribbing...small copper wire I also cover the whole body in cement to give it a longer life. See Ya, Bill If you liked the sound....Thank the engineer!
Members thegundog.com Posted March 25, 2007 Members Posted March 25, 2007 Hey Britts and Birds... Your picture is too small to tell who you are, and I don't recognize your handwriting, so give me a hint as to who you are. I am also looking for the recipe for the rusty midge tied by the River run folks. Dog Runner
brittsnbirds Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 gundog- I haven't figured out how to make it bigger. Probably should just put my dog's pic in, they are better looking. I'm a cop up in North Cass County, I help Paul G. out at the Ozanam field trial every year. You probably don't know me, I don't run my Britts (can't afford it, note the occupation), I just work and enjoy watching the dogs. I do know one thing your Scouts put on a good feed, thanks. I tie my rusty midge similar to the primrose. I just change colors. I use a contrasting colored thread as the body to a copper bead and copper wire. I've used black thread and olive. I put some crystal flashabo in there for the heck of it!
